I’ve been enjoying my time back in Old School Runescape. Such a classic for me. The landscape has changed a lot since 2006 though. There’s clients and plugins galore now, no more being limited to a web browser with 1 minute logout timer! I started a bit in Runescape Clients and Settings and in the last several days I’ve discovered a few more things that I like. Logout # There’s not a lot of AFK opportunities in OSRS but there are more than there used to be. The primary one is splashing to gain magic xp. It’s slow but AFK for as long as you can be. On mobile the logout setting can be changed to 25 minutes so it’s easy to leave the game running on my phone for the sake of leveling up a bit. But I prefer to play on desktop because it’s so much more beautiful with the HD 117 GPU plugin noted in Runescape Clients and Settings. And thankfully that 25 minute logout timer can be set in this client too! Left Click Drop # When power leveling in things like or it’s tempting to pair it with leveli…

Note to future me Hey when you have to reinstall this, you NEED to use a Jagex launcher to launch runeline on Linux. TLDR: bolt from the discover store I’m not a seasoned PC gamer, so launchers and game installers have been a tad confusing to me over the years. Runescape has some clients now, and runelite is apparently the primary third-party one. There are also plugins available! Working On Linux # To start I downloaded a third-party jagex launcher, bolt, from the discover store… I use it to launch runelite. In runelite there’s a plugin menu, I installed the gpu one and almost instantly the game came alive in a whole new way! Jagex Launcher I linked my runescape account to a jagex account and you ahve to use the jagex launcher to launch runelite but the jagex launcher only works on windows - there’s a github to make it work on linux but I went with third-party jagex launcher bolt instead GPU # The GPU one is great, makes the game look incredible Default # GPU # Stats # There’s a few t…

Intro # I got an itch to play a new game recently and after squabbling with my PS4 and my PC I decided to go old school literally with Old School Runescape… I played this game so much as a kid and it’s so well preserved in 2025. I tried to bang out a ton today and decided to look through a few guides to try to level up effeciently. Quests # There’s a handful of quests and several are pretty attainable early on that give enough XP to blitz through the early levels of many skills… Today I made it through doric’s quest which bumped be through to level 20+ mining. Another player gave me a black pick-axe which made mining some iron pretty easy. From there I wanted to level up smithing a bit - and the guides say that “The Knight’s Sword” is a good quest for it, though it’s recommended to be combat level 20 before doing it… I decided to not worry about that, I’ve picked red-berries for a pie and am going to bring a haul of steaks and my black pick while I try to get the bluerite ore and run a…
